The process control system (PCS) serves for process management, process monitoring and logging. The fermentation line, processing (freeze-drying, fluidised bed drying), all utilities and the pilot plant are connected to the central PCS. More than 25,000 data points are processed by this complex system. The automation system was developed and programmed together with the company ISE (Industrial Software Engineering). The PCS is divided into three logical units and runs on three main computers. In total 10 view stations are distributed in the plant. Formulations saved in the PCS assure the reproducibility of processes.
